GHFS received the prestigious award for Club of the Year, at the annual martial arts gala, hosted by the Swedish budo and martial arts federation (SB&K).

Every year Swedish martial artists gather in the beautiful Berns salonger to celebrate the achievements of Swedish martial arts. To win an award means getting the recognition the world of martial arts. Martial artists from Thai boxing, MMA, BJJ, Glima and several other martial arts were represented among the nominees. GHFS was nominated for two awards – Club of the year and Head Instructor Anders Linnard was nominated for Champion of the year. Carl Ryrberg from Örebro HEMA was nominated for Leader of the year, making HEMA represented in no less than three categories. Out of these three, GHFS won Club of the year. A great achievement and a huge step for HEMA in Sweden.

The motivation for the award was:
”This club has arguably the best practioners in the world. It also organises the world’s biggest event in this art. The club was also a driving force in making the sport becoming more professional and that the art should join the Swedish Budo & Martial Arts Federation. The club also won two historical Swedish championship golds, when HEMA last year held its first Swedish Championship ever.”
